India eyeing Africa, Latin America for exports: Scindia

Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Jyotiraditya Scindia has said India was eyeing Africa and Latin America for exports potential.

INDORE: Stressing the need to diversify country's international business, Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industries Jyotiraditya Scindia said India was eyeing Africa and Latin America for exports potential.

"I feel that there was a need to diversify the country's international business to rev up exports, Scindia told PTI on April 16.

The minister underlined the need of giving thrust to markets in Africa and Latin America to boost exports.

Scindia said they were giving shape to policies keeping in view the new avenues of export.

He said the country's last financial year export was around 170 billion US dollar adding that they have set the export target of 200 billion US billion dollar for the current financial year.

"I am hopeful of achieving our target," Scindia said. He said to achieve the target, there was a need to boost engineering, leather, handicraft and handloom sectors.
