India, China sign pact for promoting handicraft
EPCH today said it has inked a pact with CCPIT to explore possibilities of enhancing exports of Indian handicrafts to the neighbouring nation.
"A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between EPCH and CCPIT, which is the largest institution for the promotion of Foreign Trade in China to explore the possibilities of enhancing for exports of handicraft from India," EPCH said in a statement.
The MoU was signed during the visit of Secretary, Textiles Zohra Chatterji, who led a delegation to China for enhancement of handicraft trade and brand image promotion of Indian handicrafts & textiles in the Chinese Market.
"China is one of the largest economies in the world and due to the increasing incomes, the Chinese people have more inclination of the handmade and handcrafted products as compared to the machine made Chinese handicrafts.... Leading apex Chinese organisation such as CCPIT, Shanghai have shown keen interest to work together for tapping the growing markets in both countries," it said.
