China faces fresh Indian duties on titanium dioxide imports

New Delhi: India has reimposed anti-dumping duties of $460-681 per tonne on specified titanium dioxide imports from China, following a fresh investigation that found dumped imports had caused material injury to the domestic industry.

The duties will remain in force for five years unless revoked, superseded or amended earlier, the department of revenue said in a notification issued on Saturday.

The move follows the withdrawal of an earlier duty imposed in May 2025 after the Calcutta High Court ordered a reconsideration of the case in proceedings brought by the Indian Paint Association. The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) issued fresh findings on August 3, recommending the levy after concluding that Chinese imports were being sold at dumped prices and had harmed domestic producers.
