Import tariff for edible oil unchanged

The government on Wednesday kept unchanged the base price for levying import duties on palm oils and soybean oil to stabilise the prices of edible oils.

NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday kept unchanged the base price for levying import duties on palm oils and soybean oil to stabilise the prices of edible oils.

"The tariff values of six palm group oils and crude soybean oil remain unchanged," an official release said.

The base price or tariff value has not been revised since July last year. The value is fixed every fortnight to keep a check on under-invoicing of imported oils.

The tariff rate for crude palm oil (CPO) remains at USD 447 per tonne, while crude soybean oil is USD 580.

The tariff for other oils are: RBD palm oil USD 476, other palm oils USD 462, crude palmolein USD 481, RBD palmolein USD 484 and other palmolein USD 483.

However, the government raised the tariff for brass scrap (all grades) to USD 4,550 per ton from 4,385 per ton.
