'Gujarat can develop ties with China in many areas'
Talking to reporters after returning from a visit to China and Singapore, he said the areas of cooperation with the Asian giant could be pharmaceuticals, chemicals, diamonds and urban infrastructure.
GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government has identified several sectors for cooperation with China, Chief Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters after returning from a visit to China and Singapore, he said the areas of cooperation with the Asian giant could be pharmaceuticals, chemicals, diamonds and urban infrastructure.
Modi said his delegation showcased Gujarat's rapid progress to Chinese officials. "Progress made by the state has generated interest in the government and industry of that country," he said.
He was on a six-day tour with a delegation of industrialists and bureaucrats to China, where he visited Shanghai, Beijing and Ronzen. Before that, he was in Singapore for three days.
Modi undertook the tour to attract foreign investment ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat investors’ summit slated for January.
"We had negotiation with some Chinese companies who have shown interest in the state," he said but declined to give details. Modi visited Three Gorges, the world's largest dam while in China, and special economic zones.
