Govt to draw action plan for India-Africa trade cooperation

With the view to promote business with Africa, the Centre will draw up an action plan for cooperation in sectors like cluster development, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals.

NEW DELHI: With the view to promote business with Africa, the Centre will draw up an action plan for cooperation in sectors like cluster development, renewable energy and pharmaceuticals.

The plan would be outlined by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation's (UNIDO) Centre for South-South Industrial Cooperation (UCSSIC) in partnership with the government of India.

It said the selected sectors for cooperation would include cluster development, pharmaceuticals, low cost housing and building material, renewable energy, leather, ICT applications in industry, food processing and traditional medicines, an official release said.

Meanwhile, the government in association with UNIDO had organised a 5-day international conference on India-Africa cooperation on industry, trade and investment which concluded on September 14, it added.
