The government on Monday imposed import curbs on silver jewellery studded with cheap diamonds till June 30 this year, according to a notification.

"The import policy of items...is revised from free to restricted for the period up to June 30, 2026, with immediate effect," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said.

The move is aimed at curbing imports of silver from Asean countries, according to an industry expert.
