New Delhi: The government has allowed 5,841 tonnes of sugar to be exported to the European Union (EU) under a quota-based duty concession scheme - tariff rate quota - for 2026-27.

"The quantity of 5,841 MT of sugar to be exported to the EU from India under TRQ (tariff rate quota) for the year 2026-27 (October 2026 to September 2027) has been notified," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has said in a public notice dated October 9.

The DGFT also said that the minimum import price (MIP) on Glufosinate and its salts, used in weedicides, has been extended till April 12, 2027, according to a notification.

"The MIP condition on the import of Glufosinate and its salts stands extended till 12.04.2027," the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a separate notification.

In another notification, the DGFT said the export policy of "Prepared Culture Media" has been amended to enable issuance of Shipment Clearance Certificate and Health Certificate, wherever required or mandated by the importing country.

Prepared culture media are nutrient-rich solid, semi-solid, or liquid formulations used to grow, isolate, and identify microorganisms in clinical, industrial, and research laboratories.
