A French delegation comprising representatives from sectors such as defence and aerospace, renewable energy, food processing and retail held discussions with Indian officials on challenges faced by French companies in the country, an industry body said.

The discussions were part of a "closed door session with Atul Chaturvedi, Additional Secretary, DIPP (Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion) and Deepak Bagla, CEO, Invest India aimed at looking deeper into issues and challenges faced by French companies," according to a statement issued by the Indo French Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The French delegation also deliberated upon the best practices for ease of doing business in India yesterday, close on the heels of the announcement of India's jump to the 100th rank in the World Bank's Doing Business report.

"France is currently one of the top investors in India with more than 400 established companies in India," said the statement.

The roundtable meeting was attended by Jean Marc Fenet, Minister Counsellor and Head of the Economic Department, Embassy of France in India, Payal Kanwar, Secretary General, Indo French Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with French business representatives.
