Export of soybean meal decreases by 70.15% in April

The export of soybean meal during April 2013 was 1 lakh tonne as compared to 3.36 lakh tonnes in the same period of previous year.

KOLKATA: The export of soybean meal during April 2013 was 1 lakh tonne as compared to 3.36 lakh tonnes in the same period of previous year showing a decrease of 70.15%. Overall demand of soybean meal is poor all across the world.

Indian soybean meal prices are not competitive in comparison to international rates which has resulted in decline in exports.

During current oil year, (October - September), exports during October 2012 to April, 2013 were 26.97 Lac tonnes as against 31.21 Lac tonnees last year, showing a decline of 13.60%.

The data has been collected and compiled by Soybean Processors Association of India based on the information received from the members, port authorities and other agencies. The data does not include exports to Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh by rail or road.
