Export of oilmeals in April 2012 down by 22 per cent

The export of oilmeals during April 2012 has declined by 22% to 400,427 tons as compared to 513,221 tons in April 2011.

KOLKATA: The export of oilmeals during April 2012 has declined by 22% to 400,427 tons as compared to 513,221 tons in April 2011, according to data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India on Friday. This has happened mainly due to disparity in crushing that resulted into less availability of oilmeals for export.

Oilmeal import by South Korea from India during April 2012 has been reported at 70,496 tons compared to 69,021 tons last year comprising 47,500 tons of soybean meal, 14,996 of castor meal and 8,000 tons of rapeseed meal.

Vietnam, another major market, imported 56,318 tons compared to 89,194 tons last year consisting of 31,016 tons of soybean meal, 1,400 tons rapeseed meal, 502 tons of castor meal and 23,400 tons of rice bran extraction.

Japan reported 61,169 tons of oilmeal import as compared to 102,775 tons of last year which consisted entirely of soybean meal. Indonesia imported 36,363 tons of oilemal compared to 31,520 tons.

The Indonesian imports comprised 17,602 tons of soybean meal and 18,761 tons of rapeseed meal. Iran imported 97,904 tons of oilmeal as compared to 50,022 tons in previous year. Europe and others have imported 24,035 tons of oilmeal as compared to 43,694 tons last year.
