EU agri, food delegation to arrive Tuesday

European Union's Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel will be heading a 28-member delegation to India on a five-day official visit.

NEW DELHI: European Union's Agriculture and Rural Development Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel will be heading a 28-member delegation to India on a five-day official visit starting tomorrow.

The delegation comprising industry representatives of Europe's agriculture and food-processing sectors would meet Indian business leaders and discuss issues related to trade and investment between the EU and India, EU's Ambassador in India Francisco da Camara Gomes said.

The delegation is also scheduled to meet Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath, Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar and Food Processing Minister Subodh Kant Sahai, a release said.

"The key objective of the Commissioner's visit is to reinforce and highlight common areas of partnership and growth in the field of agriculture and food processing technology, Da Cmara said.

During her visit Commissioner Fischer Boel will inaugurate, along with Sahai, the International Ahaar Food Fair starting in New Delhi on March 8.
