NEW DELHI: The government on Saturday restricted the exports of diagnostic kits amid the outbreak of the Covid-19 outbreak.

“The export of diagnostic kits (diagnostic or laboratory reagents on a backing, preparation diagnostic or laboratory reagents)... is restricted with immediate effect,” the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said in a notification.

Earlier, the exports of these products were allowed without any restrictions. Products under the restricted category mean that an exporter now requires a licence from the DGFT for outbound shipments.

The government has already prohibited the export of all kinds of artificial respiratory apparatus, oxygen therapy apparatus and breathing devices, and sanitisers, masks, ventilators and textile raw materials for masks and coveralls, and active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and formulations.
