CII delegation to visit Tehran

CII delegation comprising representatives of BHEL, Ashok Leyland and TEC Consulting Engineering will be leaving on a 3-day visit to Tehran on Saturday to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

NEW DELHI: CII delegation comprising representatives of BHEL, Ashok Leyland and TEC Consulting Engineering will be leaving on a 3-day visit to Tehran on Saturday to strengthen bilateral economic ties.

The 12-member delegation would brief the Iranian industry about the existing economic environment in India and the possibilities for joint ventures and economic cooperation, industry chamber CII said in a statement today.

The delegation members are expected to hold meetings with private and the public sector undertakings, ministers and officials of the government of Iran dealing with trade and commerce.

According to CII the potential areas of cooperation between the two countries exist in sectors like steel, oil and gas, energy, petrochemicals, automobile, communication and information technology, food processing, pharma and technology.

Earlier during a visit to India, Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Iran Davood Danesh Jafari had urged the Indian industry to work towards increasing the bilateral trade.

The trade between India and Iran during 2006-07 was estimated at 9.33 billion dollars, consisting of 1.49 billion dollars of exports and 7.84 billion dollars of imports.
