Cabinet approves trade agreement with South Korea

The Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval for concluding a Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement with South Korea.

NEW DELHI: The Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval for concluding a Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement with South Korea.

"It is likely to increase the investment between India and Democratic People's Republic of Korea," Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the CCEA meeting.

Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreements (BIPA) have been signed till date with 58 countries since negotiations were commenced in 1994.

The Cabinet also approved the Agreement signed between India and Sweden on December 9, 2005, at Stockholm on cooperation in the fields of Science and Technology, he said.

This agreement with Sweden has a validity period of five years, he said.
