Australian trade minister to visit India

Australian Trade Minister Warren Truss is to visit India next week to seek business opportunities in the rapidly growing economy of India.

CANBERRA: Australian Trade Minister Warren Truss is to visit India next week to seek business opportunities in the rapidly growing economy of India.
Leading a 30-member business delegation, Truss is to visit India from Feb 26 to March 2 and attend the bilateral Joint Business Council.
Truss said in a statement Friday that the rapidly growing Indian economy is "deepening our commercial relationship and expanding opportunities for Australian business."
He said India has surpassed Indonesia to become Australia's 12th largest merchandise trading partner. Two-way trade in goods and services has increased to more than Australian $10 billion ($7.9 billion) in the last financial year.
"Australian industry is well-positioned to complement India's dynamic growth," Truss said.
Truss will visit Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and New Delhi. He will be accompanied by Australian companies from the financial services, education, aviation, agribusiness, aquaculture, mining and sports sectors.
