"At the BRICS Summit in Kazan (in 2024), President Putin instructed the industry to ensure that demand from Indian farmers for Russian fertilisers is met," Guryev, who is also head of the Russian chapter of the BRICS Business Council, told ET on the sidelines of the BRICS Business Forum here on Friday.

"As a result, Russian producers supplied 6.5 million tonnes of fertilisers to our Indian partners last year. That was 40% more year-on-year and six times the level recorded in 2021," he said.
Today, one in every three tonnes of fertiliser imported by India is produced in Russia. Environmentally friendly fertilisers from Russia are key to ensuring that the world's most populous country has access to safe, high-quality food, Guryev said.
"We continue to increase supplies of Russian agrochemical products to BRICS countries as a whole. The BRICS states now receive half of all Russian mineral fertiliser exports," Guryev said. "Total supplies to BRICS countries reached a new record of 23.4 million tonnes in 2025, compared with 21.5 million tonnes in 2024, an increase of 9% year-on-year. Compared with 2021, Russian exports to BRICS countries increased by 75%."
The Russian delegation that attended the BRICS Business Forum here comprised more than 300 people, including senior executives from major companies.

This year, the Russian chapter of the BRICS Business Council has put a clear framework in place. It developed a portfolio of proposals in nine core areas, along with a number of cross-cutting tracks that require cooperation among businesses, financial institutions, regulators and development institutions.
"We have seen tangible results in each of these areas. Initiatives that have made significant progress during the year include the BRICS Credit Rating Agencies Alliance, the BRICS Fund for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the Grain Exchange and the International Remote Employment Platform," Guryev said.
