KOZHIKODE: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi today said that he would talk to the Labour Ministry to find out the reasons for the reported delay in notifying the interim relief for working journalists and non-journalists as recommended by the Justice Narayana Kurup Wage Boards.

"I will find out from Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes the reasons for the delay in awarding interim relief to the employees in the newspaper industry," he said, participating in a function organised by the Calicut Press Club here.

Ravi made these remarks after KUWJ office-bearers urged his intervention in the matter alleging "undue" delay on the part of the central government in announcing the interim relief.

The Justice Narayana Kurup Wage Boards were set up by the union government in May last year for fixing or revising rates of wages of working journalists and and non-journalists of news papers and agencies in accordance with the provisions of the Working Journalists and Other Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Miscellaneous Provisions Act,1955
