RAJAHMUNDRY: A five-member team comprising officials from the UN and Boston Consulting Group arrived today at East Godavari district to study Aadhaar-card based services provided by the public distribution system.

The five-member delegation, which included officials from United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) visited Rajahmundry and Samalkota mandals and later met the district joint collector A Babu, an official release said here.

The delegation comprised WFP officer P Paithankar, besides Boston Consulting Group (BCG) officials Ashish Jain, Seema Bansal and Rajit Gupta, it said.

The joint district collector told the delegation about how transparency was maintained in this scheme and said that there was no "duplication" and actual beneficiaries get the benefit, it said.

"The prime objective of the scheme is to identify real beneficiaries. Only then would benefits reach actual beneficiaries," he said.

Officials have expressed hope that the example would be followed by African and Asian countries, it added.
