Supreme Court asks Centre to maintain status quo on Hindustan Zinc disinvestment
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed Modi government to maintain status quo on the proposed disinvestment of Hindustan Zinc Limited, in a huge blow to any process of further disinvestment.

A bench led by Chief Justice of India T S Thakur said that it wasn't standing in the government's way in any further disinvestment but directed the government in this case to hold its hands for now.

The disinvestment was first proposed in 2002 but has been set back by a series of litigation.

The order came in a PIL filed by the National Confederation of Officers Association. Their case was argued lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
