Crop loans to the tune of Rs 630 crore have been waived off in Nagpur division.

NAGPUR: Crop loans to the tune of Rs 630 crore have been waived off in Nagpur division.

With this, 3,93,367 farmers have got the loan waiver benefit in five districts of Nagpur division in eastern-Vidarbha region, official sources said on Thursday.

The loan waiver scheme has covered 3,03,468 farmers having land holdings lesser than two hectares and whose loan amounts range from Rs 46,000 to Rs 93,000 have been written off as the loan waiver scheme announced by the State and the Centre.

There were 89,899 farmers having land holdings more than two hectares of land and their crop loan of Rs 16,21,77,000 was waived off.

Chandrapur district was the most benefited with the scheme, as Rs 14.39 crores loans of 67,330 farmer borrowers was waived off.

The Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank, an apex bank has made sufficent funds available for disbursement of fresh loans to farmers, official sources added.
