The Centre has allocated Rs 1333.79 crore for execution of various schemes under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in Patna and Bodh Gaya towns in Bihar.

PATNA: The Centre has allocated Rs 1333.79 crore for execution of various schemes under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in Patna and Bodh Gaya towns in Bihar, said Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi.

"The centre had sanctioned Rs 54.57 crore for the urban poor to provide basic facilities in Bodh Gaya during the current financial year," said Modi in the state assembly.

Besides, Rs 36.18 crore was sanctioned for solid waste management for Patna town for 2006-07, he said, adding the detailed project reports (DPRs) for other projects like water supply, drainage and sewerage for the towns were being prepared to be submitted to the Centre by June this year.

On the question of ordinate delay, Modi said that the state government had earlier submitted DPRs for these projects which were disapproved on "technical grounds".

Earlier, state Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) minister Prem Kumar said the state government was firm in its resolve to fully utilise Rs 1333.79 crore allocated by the Centre under the JNNURM.
