Rs 100 crore sanctioned for Phase 3 of Ganga water project

NOIDA: The Noida Board today gave in principle approval of Rs 100 crore for the third phase of Ganga water project to provide potable water to residents of the satellite town.

The Board gave the go-ahead at its 175th meeting here, officials said.

For additional 37.50 cusec Ganga water, Phase-III of the project is expected to be commissioned by the 2015-16.

The irrigation department was conducting lining of the canal, construction of head regulator and other works for supplying this additional Ganga water supply.

Currently Noida is getting 20 cusecs Ganga water which is proving to be insufficient.

Phase-I of the project has been operational since 2005 and is providing about 20 cusecs water to Noida, while work on Phase-II is expected to be over by 2013.

With Phase-II, 80 cusecs of additional water will be brought in to Noida.

Board also gave approval for 5 per cent developed plots for farmers whose land was acquired after April, 1997 though notification was published before this period.

Board further approved the regularisation of 'abadi' land and lease back in villages Parthla Khanjarpur, Shahdara, Badoli Bangar, Wazidpur and Sultanpur.

Several builders projects are under construction in these villages and farmers had threatened to stop work if their abadi land was not regularised.
