The Reserve Bank of India will soon issue Rs 10 and Rs 50 denomination banknotes incorporating rupee symbol in the Mahatma Gandhi-2005 series.

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India will soon issue Rs 10 and Rs 50 denomination bank notes incorporating rupee symbol in the Mahatma Gandhi-2005 series.

"The Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue Rs 10 and Rs 50 denomination bank notes incorporating rupee symbol, with inset letter 'L' in the Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005 bearing the signature of D Subbarao, Governor, RBI, and the year of printing 2012 printed on the reverse of the bank notes," it said in a statement.

The design of these notes to be issued now is similar in all respects to the Rs 10 and Rs 50 bank notes in Mahatma Gandhi Series-2005, issued earlier, it said.

"All the bank notes in the denomination of Rs 10 and Rs 50 issued by the bank in the past will continue to be legal tender," it said.
