Punjab mobilises Rs 3,117 crore under small saving schemes

The Punjab government has mobilised funds to the tune of Rs 3,117 crore under small saving schemes during first four months of the current fiscal.

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has mobilised funds to the tune of Rs 3,117 crore under small saving schemes during first four months of the current fiscal.

"During the current year Rs 3,117 crore has been collected till July, 2012 under various small savings schemes, whereas Rs 2,948 crore were collected in the previous year till July 2011," said Punjab Small Savings scheme Director Jaspal Singh here today.

On the occasion of announcement of winners of 38th Lucky Coupon Scheme of Small Savings, he said the Punjab government has amassed approximately Rs 9,619 crore under various small savings schemes till March 31, 2012.

"Small savings schemes have been contributing in the development of the country and the state as well," he said.

The Punjab government today announced prizes worth Rs 2.30 crore under the 38th Lucky Coupon Scheme of Small Savings. During the draw ceremony total 7,111 prizes were declared. Ludhiana district's coupon got first prize, which was Innova car.
