The World Bank has approved a Rs 2,100-crore funding for the second phase of the Punjab state road sector project, which would see upgradation of about 950 km roads in the state.

CHANDIGARH: The World Bank has approved a Rs 2,100-crore funding for the second phase of the Punjab state road sector project, which would see upgradation of about 950 km roads in the state.

A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting between a high level World Bank team and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday, an official spokesman said Chandigarh.

Badal informed the members of the multi-lateral lending agency team that the state will also organise a mega road show between March 26 and 27 in Chandigarh to appraise the visiting international players about the road infrastructure projects in the state.

Reiterating the firm commitment of the state to provide world-class roads in Punjab, Badal said all the three regions of Malwa, Majha and Doaba of the state would be covered in the second phase of the project.
