Planning Commission grants Rs 135 cr for irrigation in J&K

Planning Commission has sanctioned Rs 135 crore for augmenting irrigation facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, state Irrigation and Horticulture Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir said on Monday.

JAMMU: Planning Commission has sanctioned Rs 135 crore for augmenting irrigation facilities in Jammu and Kashmir, state Irrigation and Horticulture Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir said on Monday.

Mir, who was addressing a public meeting here, felt that the irrigation system in the state would get a face lift with this grant and farmers would be highly benefited from it.

He said Rs 100 crore Technology Mission has been implemented in the state to provide basic facilities to the farmers for promotion of agriculture and horticulture.

He said the government was aware of the growing unemployment problem and a recruitment drive will be launched soon to fill up vacancies in various government departments.
