On cards, separate financial institution for minorities in J-K
The Centre is mulling over establishing separate financial institutions for development of minority communities in Jammu and Kashmir, Planning Commission member Balachandra Mungekar said here today.
"The Central government is pondering over establishing separate financial institutions for the development of the minority communities in the state", Mungekar, here on a six-day visit, said while addressing a high level meeting of government officials.
The meeting was convened to review the functioning of various state departments including Higher and Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Labour and Employment, Social Justice and Minority Affairs among others.
The officials present in the meeting apprised Mungekar with the progress being made in their departments.
Of the total number of teachers vacancies in the state, 92 per cent have been filled up and 13.26 lakhs students are being provided mid day meals across the state, an official in the meeting said.
Ten projects have been taken in private-public partnership in education sector, he added.
The state government proposes to introduce 22 more trades in the technical institutions raising the number of such trades in these institutes to 51, another official told Mungekar.
