Odisha to showcase investment opportunity at Singapore
With Singapore emerging as a key financial hub of Asia, Odisha government today decided to woo investors there by showcasing the investment opportunities in the state.
"The objective of the state would be to promote entrepreneurial interaction of Odisha with the business community of Singapore," a senior official said adding that Singapore had been recognized as the most-open economy with best investment potential.
Singapore has the highest density of wealthy persons and around seven per cent of its population take part in entrepreneurial activities and investment in international business.
The business community of Singapore has also expressed interest for investment in Odisha because of state's high growth rate and enabling policies, the official said after attending a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary B K Patnaik.
Patnaik has asked IPICOL to prepare a roadmap of investment opportunities in Odisha with specific sectors and targets.
The chief secretary also asked officials to identify genuinely interested 50 entrepreneurs form the state to participate in the event and enter in collaborative ventures.
Odisha would like investors in Information Technology, Infrastructure, Alternative Energy and Tourism, sources said adding that a seminar for the purpose was planned on September 25 at Singapore.
The Singapore-Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries will be the associate partner for organization of the event
