NABARD projects credit plan outlay of Rs 47432 crore for 2012-13 for Gujarat state

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has projected credit plan outlay of Rs 47432 crore for 2012-13 for Gujarat state.

AHMEDABAD: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development ( NABARD) has projected credit plan outlay of Rs 47432 crore for 2012-13 for Gujarat state. Out of the total projection for the priority sector lending, 67% was towards agriculture sector.

M.I.Gangi, general manager, NABARD, stated that in spite of growth in the credit flow, the state stood at 3.96% of total agriculture credit of the country of Rs 4,46,000 crore during 2010-11. Drawing the reference of the credit target envisaged in 12th Five Year Plan, and GoI trust on agriculture credit, the projection of Rs 47432 crore made for 2012-13 is achievable, he said during the state credit seminar which was inaugurated by Gujarat cabinet minister for agriculture and co operation,Dileepbhai Sanghani and presided over by V.Ramakrishna Rao, executive director of NABARD.

Sector wise presentation on State Focus Paper 2012- 13 highlighting the potentials, problems and concerns under each sub sector i.e. croploan, agriculture and allied activities, non farm sector, financial inclusion and micro credit were made. H.R.Dave, CGM, NABARD, highlighted the methodology of preparation of Potential Linked Credit Plans (PLPs) at the district level, taking into account exploitable long term potential, available potential,health of financial institutions and credit absorption capacity. He also emphasized the efforts taken in mapping up the potential, identifying the gap in social and financial infrastructure while preparing the state focus paper 2012-13.

Farmers clubs and members of working SHG hailing from Anand, Bharuch,Kheda, Mehsana and Surendranagar attended the seminar. "There is a need for credit intensification in respect of SHGs on the lines of the initiatives being taken in the States of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu so as to strengthen the SHG movement in the State,"said Mr Sanghani.
