CHENNAI: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development Bank (NABARD) has committed a financial support of Rs 1,500 crore to Tamil Nadu during the current fiscal as part of developing several infrastructure projects.

"For 2013-14, NABARD has committed to sanction a total financial support of Rs 1,500 crore for implementation of various rural infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu", NABARD Chief General Manager Lalitha Venkatesan said here.

NABARD sanctioned financial support of Rs 158.15 crore to the state under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund for irrigation of water management, construction of rural go downs and formation of rural roads, she said in a statement.

Of the total amount of Rs 158.15 crore, Rs 1.59 crore has been sanctioned for development of storage and warehouse facilities in Krishnagiri, Tiruppur and Tuticorin districts, she said.

Other rural infrastructure development under the sanctions, include construction of four bed dams across Vaigai river in Ramanathapuram district, 332 rural road projects in 31 districts, she added.
