Madhya Pradesh government to lure investors through Global Investors Summit

NEW DELHI: In a bid to boost industry and business in the state, Madhya Pradesh government is organising a Global Investors Summit (GIS) from October 8 to 10 in Indore. This is the fourth edition of the summit and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be inaugurating the event on October 9.

The event aims at showcasing the state to the global business community and reaching out to potential foreign investors. The event would also highlight the state’s infrastructure and its connectivity with all parts of the country.

Madhya Pradesh has a distinction of being the only diamond producer state and also the largest opencast copper mine reserves in the country. It also accounts for 14% of the total cement production in the country. The state has seen 11% GSDP (Gross State Domestic Product) along with 24.99% growth in agriculture sector.

The three-day event will also offer 30 sectoral sessions to create awareness about the state. To lure investors, the state has created a land bank of 20,000. It is also developing 27 new industrial areas, 3 IT parks and upgrading 13 existing industrial Areas.

An MSME convention on micro, small and medium entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship programme for young and women, agri-business and food processing, technical education and skill development will be some key attractions. Special focus would be on sectors like handloom, pharmaceuticals,IT & ITeS, automobile and engineering, tourism and renewable energy.
