Loans of farmers waived of under Union govt scheme
Loans of over 50 farmers amounting to more than Rs 10 lakh have been waived in the district under the Centre's scheme in this regard.
The farmers today received certificates of debt waiver from Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India Anup Banerjee at a function at the bank's branch here.
Banerjee said the SBI, Chandigarh circle, has completed the task of waiving loans of farmers in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir totalling Rs 180 crore.
He said these farmers were now eligible for fresh loans from the banks.
The lists of eligible farmers under the loan waiver scheme have been displayed at all the branches.
He said plans were in the final stages to open 45 new branches in Himachal Pradesh within this financial year.
