J&K FY08-09 budget to be presented on Jan 16

JAMMU: The last state budget for the next financial year by the present PDP-Congress coalition government would be presented before the state assembly on January 16.

Minister of Finance Tariq Hameed Kara on Sunday announced the date after finalising the modalities for next year's budget at a high level officers meeting here.

It was decided that on January 5 and 6 next new proposals would be discussed and on January 11 one-to-one meeting would be held with the chief minister regarding the proposals.

The final draft of budget speech would be prepared on January 13.

The achievements of all the sectors is expected be reflected in the budget speech followed by the political aspect and prospective road map envisioned for the development of state.
