J&K collects Rs 332 crore in excise till Oct

J&K collected Rs 332 crore in excise till October this year, an increase of Rs 57 crore from the same period last year.

JAMMU: J&K collected Rs 332 crore in excise till October this year, an increase of Rs 57 crore from the same period last year, Excise Commissioner Pradeep Gupta said.

On a month-on-month basis October saw Rs 54.56 in excise collections, Rs 9.07 crore more than the recovery made during October last year, Gupta told a meeting of senior officers of excise department here today.

Gupta impressed upon the officers to redouble their efforts to achieve better results in the coming months. He asked the officers to be vigilant to ensure there is no evasion of toll and excise revenue anywhere in the state.

The Excise Commissioner also instructed the officers to exhibit highest standards of integrity and be responsive to the grievances of the public particularly the transporters and the commuting public.
