Hindustan Aeronautics selloff may get government nod today
NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet is expected to clear the proposal to offload 10% of the government’s stake in the strategically important Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) on Thursday. If the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs clears the proposal to sell equity in HAL, it will become the third defence public sector undertaking after Bharat Electronics (BEL) and BEML to be headed for disinvestment.

According to the disinvestment plan outlined by the finance minister, the government aims to mop up Rs 30,000 crore in the current fiscal by selling some of its equity in PSUs even as it missed the target for the last fiscal by a wide margin. Meanwhile, the government on Wednesday deferred the plan to sell 12.5% stake sale in Nalco.
