Haryana tax collection rises 17.16 per cent

The Haryana government has recorded a 17.16 per cent increase in tax collection at Rs 5,451.82 crore up to June 2012.

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government has recorded a 17.16 per cent increase in tax collection at Rs 5,451.82 crore up to June 2012 compared to Rs 4,653.33 crore collected in the corresponding period of the financial year 2011-12, an official said.

Excise and Taxation Minister Kiran Choudhry today said collection of VAT up to June 2012 stood at more than Rs 3,959.18 crore, which is 20.77 per cent more as compared to that of the corresponding period of previous year.

As far as Value Added Tax (VAT) plus Central Sales Tax (CST) collection was concerned, more than Rs 4,354.19 crore has been collected by the department during the period, which is 19.49 per cent more than the corresponding period of last year, Choudhry said.

The Minister said the Excise and Taxation department has registered 33.64 per cent growth in collection of entertainment Tax at more than Rs 11.72 crore during the period.

Passenger and Goods Tax collection was more than Rs 117.68 crore up to June 2012, which was 10.45 per cent more as compared to that of the corresponding period of last year, the department said.

The revenue collection under Local Area Development Tax stood at over Rs 7.22 crore up to June 2012.

The Minister said excise collection up to June 2012 was more than Rs 951.03 crore which was 8.71 per cent higher as compared to that of the corresponding period of last year.
