Haryana reports 5.49% growth in Q1 tax revenue

CHANDIGARH: Haryana's tax revenue went up by just 5.49 per cent to Rs 5,751.26 crore during first quarter of current fiscal, said an official spokesman here today.

Haryana Excise and Taxation Department collected a total revenue of over Rs 5,751.26 crore in April-June 2013 period, which is 5.49 per cent higher compared to the corresponding period of last financial year, the spokesman added.

Over Rs 5,452.07 crore was collected during the same period last financial year.

The collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) in April-June 2013 was Rs 4,063.76 crore, which was 2.64 per cent more compared to the corresponding period last year.

A sum of about Rs 422.42 crore was collected as Central Sales Tax in April-June during the current financial year showing an increase of 6.94 per cent over collections made in the corresponding period of last financial year.

Excise collection was reported at over Rs 1,106.39 crore in the first quarter of ongoing fiscal year, which was 16.29 per cent higher compared to the same period last fiscal year.

The department has recorded an increase of 22.50 per cent in collection of Entertainment Tax in April-June during the current financial year by collecting more than Rs. 14.35 crore. This compares with collection of over Rs 11.72 crore during the same period of the year 2012-13, he said.

The Passenger and Goods Tax collection was at Rs 125.55 crore in first quarter, 6.69 per cent higher compared to that of the corresponding period last financial year.

A sum of over Rs 12.67 crore was collected as Luxury Tax which was 27.30 per cent higher compared to corresponding period of last year when over Rs 9.95 crore was collected.
