Gujarat government announced its decision to increase the daily minimum wages of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labourers, ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

GANDHINAGAR: Gujarat government announced its decision to increase the daily minimum wages of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labourers, ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

"Gujarat government has decided to increase the daily wages of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled labourers by around Rs 60 to 65 for all the three categories," Gujarat Labour and Employment Minister Saurabh Patel told the assembly.

"Earlier, the average per day wages of all the three categories was Rs 215, which will be increased to between Rs 275 and Rs 280," Patel, said adding labourers attached to around 46 industries would be benefit.
