The Indian government sought on Thursday parliament's approval for gross additional spending of Rs 86,730 crore ($10.22 billion) in the current fiscal year, the finance ministry said.

The government said the net additional spending for the current fiscal year ending March 31, would be Rs 44,183 crore, while the rest would be accommodated by reshuffling expenses.
