NEW DELHI: The government is likely to exceed the revised direct tax revenue target by about Rs 5,000 crore in 2013-14, a senior official said.

"Provisional direct tax collections show that the department will exceed the revised estimate of direct tax collection target by about Rs 5,000 crore," Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman R K Tewari said. As per the revised target, the government proposed to collect Rs 6,41,835 crore during 2013-14, compared with the previous, budget estimate of Rs 6.68 lakh crore.
