Chhattisgarh sanctions 1.5 cr package for bonded labourers

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh government has sanctioned a package of Rs one-and-half-crore to rehabilitate over 700 bonded labourers freed from different parts of the state and across the country.

According to officials, the government has already released an amount of over Rs 24 lakh to 125 such labourers.

Under the Bonded Labour Rehabilitation Scheme, a labourer is provided with a financial assistance of Rs 20,000 of which State gives half the amount and the rest is paid by the Centre, they said.
