Chhattisgarh govt gains Rs 854 cr from minerals

Chhattisgarh's Mineral Resource Department has gained Rs 854 crore in the first five months of the current financial year, official sources said on Tuesday.

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh's Mineral Resource Department has gained Rs 854 crore in the first five months of the current financial year, official sources said on Tuesday.

Due to various types of minerals produced in the state, the government has earned around Rs 855 crore in the first five months of the current financial year 2010-11, which is Rs 344 crore 45 lakh more than the last financial year, they said.

The state government has targeted two thousand 98 crore, 51 lakh revenue collection from minerals this year, they said.

In the year 2010-11, coal production of Rs 290 crore eight lakh has been received from Bahu-Korba district whereas Rs 218 crore 94 lakh has been received from iron ore producing areas like Dantewada district, they said.

Similarly, the state government has received Rs 76 crore 70 lakh from Raigadh, Rs 51 crore 28 lakh from Sarguja and Rs 56 crore 13 lakh from Koriya, all coal producing areas whereas from the iron ore producing areas, it has received -- Rs 76 crore two lakh from Durge, Rs eight crore 57 lakh from Kanker district and from Rajnandgaon Rs 95 lakh, they added.
