Chamling invites US investment for Sikkim

GANGTOK: Sikkim Chief Minister P K Chamling, currently on a tour to the United States, has invited foreign investment for the economic development of the Himalayan state and other states of the Northeast.

A state government release on Thursday said that while addressing the North-East Indian Investment Conference in New York last night, he appealed to the foreign investors, particularly the non-resident Indians, to become a partner in the economic development of Sikkim and other Northeast states.

Chamling underlined the state's huge potential in tourism, education, floriculture, hydel power, education and infrastructure.

He also invited NRIs and American tourists to visit the picturesque sites of the state including the Silk Route via Nathula Pass which were opened for traders of China and India, last year, the release said.
