Budget 2013: Tribal Affairs Ministry gets Rs 4295.94 crore

Union Tribal Affairs Ministry was allocated a budget of Rs 4295.94 c rore, marking a 4.57 per cent increase of Rs 187.94 crore over last year.

NEW DELHI: Union Tribal Affairs Ministry was today allocated a budget of Rs 4295.94 crore, marking a 4.57 per cent increase of Rs 187.94 crore over last year.

While Rs 1518.27 crore has been earmarked for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Rs 2517 crore has been allocated has been allocated under the head of Central Assistance for State Plan.

The public enterprises being run by the Ministry such as the National/State Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation has been given a fund of Rs 70 crore.

Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for construction of hostels for students from Scheduled Caste category.

Rs 1 crore has also been allocated for National Overseas Scholarship Scheme for the tribal students.

The Central Government has also allocated Rs 1200 crore as Special Central Assistance to Tribal Sub-Plan. Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned to fund the Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST students.
