Bihar House session starts on a stormy note

PATNA: The budget session of the Bihar legislature got off to a stormy start with the main opposition RJD and CPI-ML creating unruly scenes during Governor R S Gavai's address to the joint sitting of the two houses.
As soon as the Governor began reading out his address, CPI-ML MLA Arun Kumar started reading out his parallel speech denouncing Bihar's NDA government for its failure on all fronts particularly on law and order.
The CPI-ML legislators were soon joined by vociferous members of RJD led by Shakuni Choudhary and Mundrika Singh Yadav, who raised slogans against the government.
Former minister and senior RJD leader Shakuni Choudhary was heard shouting over the din when the Governor, a Maharashtrian, was leaving the House after his address to the joint sitting, that he should do something to ensure the safety of Biharis in that state being targeted by activists of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena of Raj Thackeray.
Later, when reporters sought Gavai's comments on Shakuni Choudhary's remarks, he said, "The reaction is natural. Whatever is being done against Biharis and other Hindi-speaking people by a handful of misguided forces is condemnable."
The Constitution, he said, gave the people of India the right to earn livelihood in any part of the country.
"We are all Indians. In fact, I have turned a Bihari ever since landing here as Governor," he said.
