West Bengal government has received investment proposals worth Rs 999.60 crore for setting up fisheries in the state. The state has signed 13 MoUs to set up fisheries.

Bengal gets Rs 1,000 crore investment for fisheries
KOLKATA: West Bengal government has received investment proposals worth Rs 999.60 crore for setting up fisheries in the state.

State fisheries department officials said that for encouraging investment in fisheries sector a dedicated cell - Investment Promotion Unit has been set up which has facilitated this investment. The government has signed 13 MoUs to set up fisheries.

In order to increase production of fish in last four years of Mamata government 1,000 lakh fish fingerlings have been distributed in 33000 water bodies under various schemes.

A senior official said that nutritionally balanced floating feed have been supplied free of cost to 13,000 fish farmers with a financial involvement of Rs 23 crore to encourage use of formulated feed for growth.
