Assam’s Public sector undertakings incurred loss to the tune of Rs 269 crore
The CAG report stated as on March 31, 2014 investments in 50 PSUs were Rs 3, 915,33 crore. It increased by 42.49 percent from Rs 2,747.72 crore in 2009-10.

According to a report of comptroller and auditor general of India on public sector undertaking state PSUs registered a turnover of Rs 3910 crore for 2013-14. Assam has 50 SPSUs, 40 working which include 37 companies and 3 statutory corporations and 10 non working PSUs.
The CAG report stated as on March 31, 2014 investments in 50 PSUs were Rs 3, 915,33 crore. It increased by 42.49 per cent from Rs 2,747.72 crore in 2009-10. Power accounted for 55.65 percent of the total investment in 2013-14.
During 2013-14 the government contributed an aggregate amount of Rs 1,071.11 crore towards equity (Rs 55.42 crore), loans (Rs 255.94 crore) and grants/subsidies (Rs 759.75 crore) to 19 SPSUs.
The CAG said that 16 SPSUs earned profits of Rs 215.72 crore and 21 incurred loss of Rs 484.87 crore. Those earned profits were energy companies.
