Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth was given the additional charge of the Revenue department on Tuesday with immediate effect, as per a government order.

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet, headed by PM Narendra Modi, assigned additional charge of the post of revenue secretary in the finance ministry to Seth, who is also working as economic affairs secretary.

"The Competent Authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Department of Revenue, to Shri Ajay Seth, IAS (KN:1987), Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, with immediate effect until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier," read a govt notification.


Seth is a 1987 batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre and has been the secretary in the department of economic affairs since April 2021.

Seth, a B.Tech graduate in Mechanical Engineering with an MBA, brings over three decades of expertise in public finance and social sector administration. His experience spans budgeting, tax policy, foreign investments, bilateral and multilateral financial cooperation, development financing, and public-private partnerships.
