15 sick public sector units report profits

15 sick central public sector enterprises, which have been under the process of revival, reported profits in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

NEW DELHI: The government today said 15 sick central public sector enterprises, which have been under the process of revival, reported profits in 2007-08 and 2008-09.

"There are 15 CPSEs, referred to Board for Reconstruction of Public Sector Enterprises (BRPSE), have reported profits in the last two years (2007-08 and 2008-09) consecutively," Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Arun Yadav informed the Lok Sabha.

During 2008-09, these 15 companies, including Cement Corporation of India, Bharat Pumps and Compressors and Hindustan Insecticides, earned net profits in the range of Rs 64 lakh to Rs 65.89 crore, while in 2007-08, the firms posted net profits in the range of Rs 3 lakh crore to Rs 40.89 crore.

In 2008-09, Cement Corporation of India reported a profit of Rs 52.55 crore, while Bharat Pumps and Compressors and Hindustan Insecticides posted Rs 18.56 crore and Rs 2.71 crore.

In the previous year, the profits were Rs 40.89 crore, Rs 30.47 crore and Rs 6.52 crore, respectively.
